Kerala
represents a medley of rivers,
Backwaters
and rivulets, hence the main mode of transport is basically connected with
the waterways.
Though there all kinds of means of transport, including motored
four-wheelers, auto rickshaws, bicycles but the backwaters of Kerala are
strewn with different modes of water transport.
Public Ferries:
The regular ferry service along the backwaters is very popular. Most
passengers prefer tourist boats to explore the backwaters of the region
and to commute from one coast to another.
Houseboats,
the 'Kettuvallams':
An expensive but increasingly popular option is to hire a houseboat or
the traditional Kettuvallams made from rice barge.
Speed boats:
Four-seat speedboats and slower six-seater boats are also on offer, which
can turn out to be quite an economical preposition between a group of
people.
